It’s A Hat Trick for Hodges

Dani Hodges’ attack on the women’s flyweight divisions gained momentum last Saturday night as she doused the Bulgarian flame that was Rozmari Silyanova and grabbed her third win in four pro contests at Walsall Town Hall.

The former kickboxing champion made her professional boxing debut in August 2017 and with this, her third straight victory, has ground out a record that now stands at 3-1-0.

Also known as ‘The Pocket Rocket’ Hodges has now fought twice at super flyweight and twice at flyweight. She tasted defeat in her first contest, a super flyweight bout against (still) unbeaten Eva Naranjo but bounced back with two hard fought points victories against the Bulgarian fighter Teodora Hristova and Poland’s Sonia Klos.

Referee Shaun Messer scored the bout 40-36 to Hodges and it was indeed a convincing win for the popular pugilist. Her opponent made it difficult at times, hugging and holding and not allowing Hodges to work on the inside. This was picked up by Messer who warned her to clean up her act but despite the referee’s interventions Silyanova continued to smother and latch on whenever Hodges closed in.

Nonetheless Hodges, behind her snappy jabs and tireless efforts scored the most telling punches, pressed hard continuously and found success as she carved out the points that she needed for the win.
